New location will bring free technology education to more young people across the city, beginning with workshops this fall
[PHILADELPHIA, PA – October 1, 2026] – Coded by, a Philadelphia-based organization providing free technology and innovation education for young people, is expanding by hosting programming at Temple University. The new location will bring Coded by: opportunities to another part of Philadelphia, making it easier for more young people to access free, hands-on technology education.
Coded by: currently hosts classes and programs from its home base at CIC in University City and works with partners to bring programming into schools and community spaces across Philadelphia. Hosting these classes at Temple marks the next step in that growth, creating another location where students can participate in Coded by: programs.
“Expanding beyond our University City HQ and into North Philadelphia marks an exciting new chapter for Coded by,” said Damon McWhite, Director of Partnerships at Coded by. “Through our partnership with Temple University, we can bring technology and entrepreneurship education closer to more of the city’s young people. We’re excited to become part of the Temple community and create new opportunities for students to build skills, explore their ideas and see themselves as creators in Philadelphia’s innovation economy.”
Programming at Temple will begin this fall with Cb: Discover, a series of free workshops that give students the opportunity to explore different areas of technology through hands-on, project-based experiences. The initial workshops will introduce students to topics including the fundamentals of coding and what it really takes to build a startup.
Beginning in the new year, Coded by: plans to expand programming at Temple to include its multi-week courses, giving students the opportunity to build deeper skills and continue their learning over time.
The Temple location builds on the work Coded by: is already doing to reach young people throughout Philadelphia. Bringing regular programming to another part of the city makes it easier for more students to participate and creates more opportunities for them to explore technology, build new skills and discover what they can pursue.
The Temple host site will begin welcoming students for workshops in October. To learn more about upcoming Coded by: programs and register, visit codedby.org.
