Meet Elwaleed

At Coded by: we focus on creating leaders. Elwaleed joined Coded by: as a product management intern last year, eager to grow his entrepreneurial skills. After a summer of growth through discomfort, he learned how to show up as a leader.

Tell us about yourself:
My name is Elwaleed. Im from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My favorite things to do are sightseeing, eating, and creating content and tools. I literally spend my free time playing around with AI. My heavily interested and invested in Generative AI. I believe it will change our world in ways we don't even know yet and I want to make sure I'm on the forefront of innovation.

How would you describe your internship experience?
If I could describe my internship experience in one phrase, I would use “Growing Pains”. This summer I grew but through discomfort. I had to put myself in uncomfortable situations, understand how others operate, and find ways to meet them where they are while still pushing forward. It wasn’t easy, but it was real. It was the rose growing out of the concrete moment.

What excites you about entrepreneurship?
I want to build things that change lives. I love the challenge. I love the freedom. I love the impact. And I love that this space lets me test things fast. If it works, amazing. If it doesn’t, cool, we try again.

What is important for a leader to know?
If you want to improve your team, you must improve yourself first. Leadership comes from within. A leader who can’t lead himself will lead his team to failure. That was the biggest lesson for me. I became more aware of how I show up, how I communicate, and how I guide, not control. You want to bring people up with you, not drag them behind you.
