About the Role

Coded by: is seeking a Part-Time Instructor to teach foundational coding and technology concepts to middle and high school students in our Cb: Classroom program, including Cb101: Explore, Discover Workshops, and Innovation Sprints.

This role focuses on helping students explore where they fit within technology and innovation. Many students are still deciding whether technology is relevant to their future, and your role is to make tech feel accessible, meaningful, and within reach while helping them build foundational skills and confidence.

Students arrive with widely varying experience levels, requiring you to assess understanding in real time and adjust instruction accordingly. This role requires strong classroom presence, credibility, and the ability to quickly build genuine rapport with students while maintaining structure and engagement.

Through education, resources, and community, we increase access and success in technology careers. To date, we have reached 5,000+ students across Philadelphia, Camden, and Delaware.

What You’ll Do

Teaching & Student Growth

• Deliver engaging, structured instruction in foundational coding, design, and technology concepts
• Create an engaging classroom environment that balances structure, autonomy, and student ownership
• Introduce students to HTML/CSS, design tools (e.g., Figma), entrepreneurship concepts, and problem-solving frameworks
• Explain not only what students are learning, but why it matters and how it connects to real-world opportunities
• Assess student understanding in real time and adjust pacing, support, and challenge levels accordingly
• Build student confidence through meaningful feedback, clear expectations, and authentic encouragement
• Help students identify their interests, strengths, and potential pathways within technology
• Create learning experiences that encourage continued participation in technology and innovation programs

Collaboration & Operations

• Execute curriculum with fidelity and contribute insights for improvement
• Collaborate with the Lead Instructor and L&I team, communicating student engagement, progress, and challenges
• Complete required documentation (session notes, feedback forms, incident reports, etc.) and track student progress
• Participate in training, observations, and ongoing professional development

What You Bring

Must-Haves:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a classroom with emphasis on respect, autonomy, and accountability
• Ability to assess student understanding in real time and adjust instruction
• Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with middle and high school students
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Available to work some evenings and/or weekends
• Ability to obtain required clearances and certifications (background check, CPR/First Aid)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred (Must have at least one):

• Experience teaching or working in youth programs
• Foundational coding knowledge (HTML/CSS)
• Foundational knowledge of design tools (e.g., Figma) or UI/UX concepts
• Familiarity with design thinking or entrepreneurship concepts
